the painting talks to me, tells me what to do,
pushes me along, turning my ideas
into surreal stories.

when i sense the undiscovered within me
and allow the paint to make it visible,
there’s no describing the thrill.

my subjects are varied:
landscapes, portraits, and still life.
mediums are varied as well; oil,
watercolor, ink, and woodcuts.

no matter the choice, i want the work
to uncover emotion in the mundane,
pathos in the surrounding air,
and a glimmer of humor i don’t see
until the work is finished.
